Admiralty Islands Bowl

Admiralty Islands sculptural Bowl. Collected by Margaret Meade. Margaret Meade fell in love with this bowl during her 1928-1929 Admiralty Islands expedition in the Melanesian region of the Pacific Ocean. The shape and form represent the creativity of the crafts people of the region who appreciated both form and function. The original can be viewed in the Pacific Peoples Hall at the American Museum of Natural History. This bowl is created in the same tradition as the original in a composition of clay and resin, ideal for fruit, candies or a stand-alone work of art.
